Lagerstroemia indica (Crape Myrtle) ~25'-high x ~25'-wide (oval to round to umbrella to vase shaped canopy) deciduous red-tinged to dark green to brilliant orange or red leaves purple to red to white flowers, per named varieties brown capsules (Autumn) origin: Nepal to southeast Asia/Philippines (not invasive) medium-low water use clay to loamy to sandy soil with average drainage no soil amendment (per pH 4.0–8.0) litter maintenance: medium-low/dry fruit low flammability medium branch strength pruning maintenance: medium (mostly per thinning) allergenicity: medium plant at least 2 feet from masonry local Sunset Zones 18-21
