Drainage
Most of the species in the Gratis Garden Trees program are adapted to the full range of soil types found in Pacific Palisades – from clay to loamy to sandy– but there are a few that would fail to thrive in poorly-draining/clay soil, so they should be avoided in some locations:

 Afrocarpus falcatus:  clay to loamy to sandy
Agonis flexuosa :  clay to loamy to sandy
Albizia julibrissin:  clay to loamy to sandy
Bauhinia variegata:  loamy to sandy
Cassia leptophylla:  loamy to sandy
Cedrus deodara:  clay to loamy to sandy
Cercis canadensis:  clay to loamy to sandy
Eriobotrya deflexa:  clay to loamy to sandy
Geijera parviflora:  clay to loamy to sandy
Handroanthus heptaphyllus:  clay to loamy to sandy
Jacaranda mimosifolia:  loamy to sandy
Koelreuteria bipinnata:  clay to loamy to sandy
Lagerstroemia indica:  clay to loamy to sandy
Laurus nobilis:  clay to loamy to sandy
